On Personal Training…..

Training and understanding the “older” (40+) body has become my primary hobby.  Every decade requires a little different approach to managing diet and exercise.  I have become strong believer in the use a variety of supplements.  It is my belief that until the older body has its intestines and hormones in proper order, much of the cardio and weight training time is wasted.

Whether you are training for bodybuilding or figure competition or just to feel good, SHORT High Intensity training along with work on balance and flexibility and enough rest is all you should need.  I don’t believe the “older” trainer should do more than 30 minutes of HIIT per workout to avoid overtraining which has several negative effects on the body.

I have recently gotten back traning with Eddie Mapula (3x world kickboxing champion) to refine and further develop my Muay Thai skills. My workouts now are a fusion of weight training and martial arts to continue to improve my strength, flexibility, and balance. I call my training approach “Shugyo-HIIT”– bascically high intensity deep mind body training. The workouts consist of 8-10 workouts per week at 20 -30 minutes each.

After several years of training I was awarded a black belt by the American Kick Boxing Federation.

I am always happy to help male or females interested in improving their body and invite you to email me at davt@cox.net.
